LSD MARCH - 'Under Milk Wood' CD $10
"The new LSD March album Under Milk Wood is their first full length since 2007's Constellation Of Tragedy for Important Records. With grace (in the rock sense), style, humor & the perfect touch of heavy riffage this tremendously unique and original recording is a classic of the new Japanese underground."
STRINGS OF CONSCIOUSNESS & ANGEL CD $10
"Featuring members of Pan Sonic & Mum working with Strings Of Consciousness. Sophisticated drone work slowly evolving in complexity and occasionally bordering on noise. Highly recomended. ANAHITA - 'Matricaria' CD $10
"Anahita is Tara Burke (Fursaxa) and cellist Helena Espvall (Espers). Anahita is a beautiful, laboriously created and floating affair of skeletal organ drones, ceremonial singing and subtly frantic instrumental accompaniment conjuring up a natural woodland romp and stomp."

MT:026: Fossils - 'Magnetic Minds Vol.2' C20 $6(can)/$7(us)/$8(world)
"Two Sparse and atmospheric junkyard anthems from the prolific hammer heroes, featuring the line up of David Payne, Steve Smith (Thousand Year Frog) and Daniel Farr (The Living Stump). Slow and unrelenting found sound, at times reminiscent of the zombie series. This tape has been sitting in my deck since it was passed my way a week ago, and every time manages to gives me the creeps. David was the dude whom originally introduced me to noise music, and it's an honour to finally be apart of the fossils legacy." Limited to 40 copies.
MT:023: Teeth Collection - 'Unrequited' C20 $6(can)/$7(us)/$8(world)
"The best of both worlds, with the two sides of Matthew Reis' definitive project, the A side offers up four ruthless harsh tracks. Severe and brutal analog abuse spikes heavy focus on high end oscillation, and has you gritting your teeth to sand. The B side takes it a bit slower, a bit more subdued, two cross faded tracks of the metal scrapping, reverb drenched drone jams that had me falling in love with teeth collection all over again." Limited to 40 copies.
MT:016: AeA/Phosphene Form C20 $6(can)/$7(us)/$8(world)
"A side a piece from two former fellow jammers. AeA takes things uncharacteristically soft, trading off a bit of the angst and aggression for eeriness and disturbing atmosphere with a foundation of heavily reverb saturated drones and screams, low end tone crust featuring one of Hydeman's old toys, and fluctuant skulk of high end bliss. Phosphene Form takes it up a notch with an implacable track of furious swirling loops via no input feedback. Rhythmic chaos oiled with delayed synth sputter and elevated drones. Potent, tormented and at the same time catchy." Limited to 30 copies.

Nuslux - 'Folköl' CDr "ON,MT!-003. Nuslux is Roope of Avarus fame, beer-afficionado from Finland and master-welder of electronic sound. Nuslux Folköl was recorded live in Malmö, Sweden in April 07. This recording has some serious post- apocalyptic vibes. after the final nuclear war, when human kind is mere bones, the machines become organic and start communicating. It sounds exactly like this, total inhuman electronic communication, raw and corroded. nuclear war... it's a motherfucker." Edition 70.
Oubliette - 'Eugénie de Franval' CDr
"ON,MT!-004. This one is in homage of the Marquis de Sade's novel Incest, capturing the feel of fucking your daughter/dad and facing consequences; harsh, brutal and relentlessly crude barn-style Georgia noise from mr oubliette himself. Has lust no bounds or is the rule of thumb to not fuck people of your own blood a thing to mull over while listening to this jammer? You decide... embrace your libertine objectives." Edition 50.
BORDET - '2 Close 4 Comfort' CDr
"ON,MT!-007. we had headaches, so we huffed these trails of steam rising from decomposing elderly tabloids in vast desolate spaces. cover the walls in the word INTSENSE - it kind of absorbs you and you find yourself floating unsteadily in the slime of your own skull cavity. rubbery and cold, like slowly suffocating alone."
SUPER HANG-ON - 'Lohan Beach Traveller' CS
"ON,MT!-008. Underwater luau vocal surf sound the Lively Ones COULD play on top of a coral reef under water, and the coral reef COULD be Jabba and YOU could be Weekend at Bernie's 2 light setting. It could also be Malmö in the summer of 2008 after too many episodes of Magnum PI and too many tumblers of ti' punch, but you wore shorts and needed refreshments. here is a recipe for ti' punch: thick slice of lime unrefined cane sugar light rum one crushed ice cube muddle the lime with the sugar add booze and ice feel your teeth rot." ARBOR93 EVAN MILLER - 'TRANSFIGURATIONS ON LAP-STEEL GUITAR' LP"Iowa City's Evan Miller is never one to stay in the same rut for too long. His earlier releases were composed of Fahey-esque spells, heavily emotional acoustic guitar work emanating tones of nostalgia and simplicity. On "Transfigurations" a new zone is crafted with lap-steel guitar and tape collage, creating equally nostalgic music from the other end of the spectrum: delicate, minimal drones. Tones interweave and textures evolve: it is Evan's most personally progressive work, combining past themes and reinterpreting them on another medium: electric lap-steel guitar. Mastered by Pete Swanson. In an edition of 450 full color pro-printed cardboard LP sleeves and printed labels designed by Jeff Witscher (Secret Abuse / Callow God)."
ARBOR96 INFINITY WINDOW - 'ARTIFICIAL MIDNIGHT' LP
"New York snyth duo Infinity Window have been crafting their game for well over a year without much documentation. Comprised of Dan Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and Taylor Richardson (Prehistoric Blackout), this LP shows them at the pinnacle of self-realization. Equally influenced by John Carpenter and the Taj Mahal Travelers, they create traveling music; music that has the power to transport and overwhelm the listener with vibes outside of those presently available to them. The A Side consists of two tracks, both clouded in a heavy haze of fog, dark and heavy though their clarity exists underneath the shroud. The B Side's lone track "Skull Theft" is the full circle realization of the first two tracks: a light is illuminated and the fog begins to clear. Mastered by Keith Fullerton Whitman. In an edition of 500 LPs with full color pro-printed cardboard sleeves and printed labels with art by Robert Beatty (Hair Police / Burning Star Core)."
ARBOR97 DEAD MACHINES - 'PLAYS INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS' 1-SIDED LP
"Michigan heavy domestic-electronic couple Dead Machines always create records that confuse and intrigue. They are the forefathers of broken gear / appliance / wind instrument basement jamming and have their niche dug deep. "Invasion" exists on the borders of existence- room ambiance is present, but the sounds are totally alien. Twisting mixer feedback and found sound source into a twisted collage of life outside the "Pod": harsh and awakening, but at times giving way to the trance of the machine lull. Don't fall asleep. In an edition of 450 LPs with full color pro-printed cardboard sleeves with art by John Olson."
ARBOR125 DUCKTAILS - 'ACRES OF SHADE' C20
""Acres Of Shade" is a departure from past Ducktails zones. Mondanile turns away from his lofi bedroom pop vibes, moving towards synthesizer cycles. He does not sacrifice his youthful style and tropical nostalgia; just rethinks the way it is expressed. Drifting drones lift in the air. Features all new material: "White House With Green Shutters / Surfs Up". In an edition of 100 tapes with full color covers and printed labels."
ARBOR129 OUTER SPACE/ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER SPLIT C32
"Outer Space's John Elliott and OPN's Dan Lopatin are arguably the two leaders in the analog synthesizer revival. Both constantly raise the bar with their bands(Emeralds and Infinity Window, respectively), though their solo work is a great gauge of personal innovation. Here, Outer Space (as a solo project) goes into truly unchartered territory, using synths as well as sound collage, the meticulously recorded "Evaporating Door" took months to be fully conceived. Combining Kraut influences such as Tangerine Dream with musique concret and John Cage, Elliott creates what truly is his bravest work yet. On the flipside, Lopatin digs deep into the OPN archives, presenting his first composition with a sequencer from 2004. It is interesting to see its use that early in his work because it is as relevant and integral to the current OPN zone as ever. The following track recalls the deep space drone vibes found on the "Betrayed In The Octagon" cassette. Atmospheric movements with uplifting and personal flickers of light. In an edition of 200 tapes with full color art and printed labels."
ARBOR131 TREETOPS - 'MELANCHOLY' C12
"Created for the Winter 2009 Midwest/Northeast tour with Infinity Window and Sick Llama, this progression represents a slight divergence from recent Treetops movements. Guitar and casio recordings pushing aside personal boundaries and mental blocks. The final recordings before rethinking the equation. In an edition of 50 tapes with full color art and printed labels."

Theo Angell - ‘First Recordings’ ($7US/$8CAN/$9WORLD)"Long before Theo Angell was in Hall of Fame or Jackie O Motherfucker, it was late '94 and he was living in an apartment on Eldridge St. with Samara Lubelski. There, he recorded the first four songs on this tape, only playing the recordings for an old friend who has since passed away. The other five songs were recorded in Portland, Oregon, spring and winter of '95. 'I was a little bashful about it all. I just filed them away when I was done and moved on to Hall of Fame.' Expansive J-Card with artwork from Theo of the period, recently found on barely transferrable discs in boxes in the attic of an old house. Program repeats on side B, making this a 90 minute chrome tape with only seconds of dead space."

Bones of Seabirds – ‘Sink Thy Hands Deep Into Earth' 2xC20 $12(USA)/$13(Canada)/$14(World)
"After a breakout year in '08, Atlanta's Ryan McGill starts '09 off right with one of his most cohesive works to date. Sink Thy Hands Deep Into Earth combines four distinct pieces that explore the warmest recesses of the Earth and the coldest depths of space. Utilizing synths, guitar and feedback, it showcases a delicate sense of subtlety, focusing on single riffs and loops and allowing them to gently decay into oblivion. This is a true synthesis of the beautiful and heavy that will bury you in the soil and launch you into the stratosphere". With full color art, inserts, and labels by Matt Yacoub. Edition of 50.
Robe. – ‘Desolate Mosaic' C74 $6(USA)/$7(Canada)/$8(World)
"Indiana's frighteningly prolific collective Robe. is here to soundtrack your worst nightmares. Desolate Mosaic could have easily been the score to a long lost sea creature horror film from the 70's. It's a hazy and doom-laden affair above all else, but beneath the bleakness a certain benevolence bleeds through. An epic, grey abyss awaits. Take the plunge." With black-and-white art, inserts, and labels by Matt Yacoub. Edition of 50.
Flea Apparitions – ‘Severed Hands' C21 $6(USA)/$7(Canada)/$8(World)
"Pittsburgh's Lorne Zeman contorts and electrifies his noise like no other. Utilizing a wide array of gear and tapes that sound mangled to perfection, Severed Hands is a bizarre and enthralling foray into an alternate dimension. Percussive walls of feedback, obscured vocals, and lo-fi synth blasts are your guide through a land of mass-dismemberment, primitive rituals, and more creepy crawlies than you can handle." With full color art, inserts, and labels by Matt Yacoub. Edition of 50.

The Second Family Band - 'The Eternal Lag' C30 $6 "Time travel with the Family. Wander with them through these distorted landscapes. The sounds on this tape just seem to be bleeding off the reels. I was sure there was something wrong with the tape it is so blown out- but a cleaner fuzz there never was! After a few minutes of total immersion in this world you settle in and just soak in it. The Second Family lays it on THICK. There is an almost steady piano throb smothered in some epic, sci-fi synth. Gritty atmospheres with slanted hand drum rhythms and break neck tempo shifts, piano pulses and banjo abuses. Recorded 1st of December 2008. First 36 copies on colord cassettes. 63 on black."
The Second Family Band - 'When We Are Gone' C71 $8
"Set sail! This is some solid action from the Family, in full force, honoring their ancestors. A Samhain gathering with db Pederesen, Theresa Behnen, Clay Ruby, Nico Kain, Dan Woodman, Iam Lee Ian, Endless, K. Eliot and Nic Stage. Sunset and the music begins...it is morning before long. Hard to say what the hell is goin on here. Lysergic chants, throat-singing, guitar, piano, synth bells... Freeeeeeeee Jams with db Pedersens vocal contortions and a Spontaneous Sabbath Sermon by Father Karen Eliot. What a trip. Recorded 31st of October, 2008. First 36 copies on Pro-dubbed, solid color cassettes the remaining 63 copies on black cassettes."
Absinthe Minds - 'LIVE' C24/C20 double cassette $8
"Two very heavy live shows! Oct 3rd at Nottingham and Oct 11th at the Willy St. Pub. Trio of heavy, primitive drumming, fucked, indecipherable vocal stylings and deadening bass stabs. On tour with Zola Jesus soon so watch out! Double cassette in case. Absinthe-green and empty bottle-clear cassettes. 36 copies! Very few left!"
Andy Futreal - 'Did you find it?' C60 $6
"On his first release on Sloow Tapes Andy melted minds with his oud improvisations, tape manipulations and radio freque-ing. This tape is no exception. Cassette walkman, microcassette recorder, laud, pedals and something called a postcard weevil are just some of the objects Andy employed this time around. This cassette reveals another mystery each time you listen. If you've had the pleasure of checking out his first release, the A-side of this one might surprise you; a very heavy, heady lapsteel guitar journey through steep orange and brown canyon walls with blue sky and soaring eagle. You'll want to take this journey again and again to really appreciate everything that is going on."
Ophibre - 'Approaching the Ionized Piezo Kiosk' CDr $6
"Drone that decimates! "Stone Gon' Drone". A constantly phasing, shimmering cloud of color that shifts and morphs, yet maintains a cohesiveness throughout that will continually make you drift and forget you are listening. The really great stuff you just can't describe. Ophibre already stumped me with his self-released 'Compositions For Disassembled Cassette", which was comprised of all the little things you need to make a cassette. The reels, the screws (in a little ziplock coin baggie taped to the side of the case), the tape, the shell.. If you want to hear it your gonna learn to put together the cassette! I havent remembered to ask him, but I think the sound source for the composition in Ophibre taking apart all the cassettes! Luckily this cdr will come fully assembled, although we could make you design your own case...nah!"
Annapurna iIlusion - 'Heat of the Fire, Heat of the Sun' CDr $8
"The debut release of Annapurna iIlusion, presents us with four tracks of woven electric breath, expansive mountainous waves of guitar-drone and feedback swirl. All of theses combine to create a beautiful blizzardy backdrop to the many intricate organic noises that float to the surface and then fade away. As the blizzard thickens, the drone rises to a wail and I am lost. Somewhere toward the middle of this disc, I feel as if I am eavesdropping on some ancient mountain side ritual. As a procession of silent monks in robes of white enter a frozen cave and tiny bells ring through the foggy feedback. Huge mountain horns and shimmering gongs sound. Perhaps the ceremony has begun. I follow the monks into the cave. DVD-style case with full-color home-spun collage artwork and insert."

905.48: RAMBUTAN - 'I SAW YOU RUNNING OUT' C32"eric hardiman of century plants solo effort. lost in the woods gutterjazz/creepdrone, just melting trees and discovering new paths for the creatures. jams will slow down time and have a staring contest with anything that has eyes on it's head, or wherever on the body. as long as it can look, it will feel."
905.52: FUTURESPORT - 'WHITE CHIMNEYS' C32
"burke's time traveling expedition into a future that isn't created yet. you arrive and no one is there. nothing has been built yet, nothing has been destroyed or forgotten. just a total forever nothing kinda landscape. close your eyes but don't see black for a second. just see white. or something that is beyond white to the point that nothing is there. soft and rich and ultimately enjoyed lying down."
905.54: MEDITATIVE SECT - 'UNEASY COEXISTENCE' C40
"it was early august and brent eyestone (aughra) and graham scala (ventoux) were heading up to new york to perform in some rhys chatham 200 guitar hooey, and made a midway pitstop in delaware for some rest / hangout sesh. we snagged some average pizza, smoked some average weed, and watched about half of troll 2 (an above average flic). then, along with sean connolly (fifty percent of the blown doors unit) we headed into the basement for some 3am sound workouts. it took a bit for the guitars, synths, and organ to melt together, but once it did the acid flowers were blooming. the entire session ended up being about an hour long and the tape was given the brent to bring back to va headquarters for proper primping. brother gets back in touch almost a half of a year later with several fully mastered tracks. god save the queen."
905.55: CLERICS - 'BORN IN A LAKE' C30
"the second meeting of clerics, but only the first time i actually was aware we were even playing. let's go ahead and consider this the first meeting of clerics, which is the duo of sal giorgi (the confused blotch-jock behind peasant magik records and the pillars of heaven project) and mike haley (905 head honcho, local wether man). got together on a weekend at my place, possibly to settle that star wars argument we had earlier in the week. had a nice lunch then broke out the ultra heavy delay. we took some pictures in the tunnel under my house afterwards, but they didn't come out."
905.57: BLACK RIVER ERROR BAND - 'COSMIC BATTLES' C30
"mattias gustafsson is an early 905-cohort, with his altar of flies project filling the 905.4 slot. black river error band is another one of gustafsson's solo endeavors. b.r.e.b. brings the same complex crunch as a.o.f. but includes some black reed magic by way of alien sax vibes for a neurotic-cosmic mash. illuminated fluttering gripping onto dark sounds like mold on a butterfly. cosmic battles = phantom workshops."
905.58: HEAVEN PEOPLE - 'SEWN EYES' C40
"heaven people is like finding pastel puke on the floor. like a multi-color mess that you can't look away from cause it's so mesmerizing, but you know you gotta clean it up cause it's gonna be sewage sooner or later. maybe a week goes by and you start seeing different images in the stain it left. like a cloud eating a reindeer. i don't know, something fucked up. heaven people are kinda like anti-psych psych. the liquid bricks of a water city. bells and whistles with no bells and whistles. hands floating away from your arms. eyes on the cover are punched out with yarn keeping em sewn."
905.60: MILDEW S/T C20

Jonquil - 'Whistle Low' EP
"Hailing from the musical city of Oxford, Jonquil have had a very prolific two years of existence that has resulted in two full length albums, both on Try Harder Records (Foals, Blood Red Shoes), and two self-released tour CDRs. Numbering six members and a far greater number of instruments (the usual guitar bass and drums plus accordion, flute, violin, trumpet, melodica, piano, organ…) Jonquil have moved on significantly from the noise-tinged avant-folk of their debut, Sunny Casinos. This new Mini-CD, the first non-album release of the band, sees Jonquil reinventing themselves as re-inventors of pop music, with moments of sublime melodicism set against dense polyrhythms that call to mind Animal Collective, Built to Spill, early Arcade Fire or Akron/Family, and some camp-side gathering, incorporating doo-wop, party horn arrangements and gentle balladry. “Whistle Low” was recorded initially by front-man Hugo Manuel in his bedroom and finished with the rest of the band over a two week period at the end of 2007, hot on the heels of their much lauded second album, Lions, which received glowing reviews in publications such as the Wire and Rock Sound as well as many of the world’s most influential blogs such as ‘My Old Kentucky Home’, ‘La Blogotheque’ and ‘Nothing But Green Lights’." ltd#22: celer - 'compositions for cassette' C68 $8(domestic)/$10(world)"huntington beach's husband/wife duo celer lull you into an enchanting, yet slightly uncomfortable stasis with over an hour full of solemn piano-based drones. "compositions for cassette" is distilled in glass and sent down a river of molasses. what danielle baquet-long and will long do is set this decaying, enchanting journey on it's course. they built the multiple cassette loops used to create this minimal symphony, this ode to american pianists of the 1920s. "compositions for cassette" is a funeral march of ghosts through alien fog, lost in a world that no longer exists for their original beings. in the end, it's only the whispers in the air that remain, a near silent elegy for notes and nooses left behind. stunning. limited to 135 copies. there are 3 different covers, each cassette packaged in a mini-burlap bag with a celer pin (there are six different pins)." "street bananas" finds its groove right away, and at times will have you wanting to shake your ass out on that stretch of empty highway that leads straight to the fucken moon. hell, blank realm even through a few pop missives out of nowhere that you'll hum until the day you implode. i think i'm ready to move down under where everything... everything is baked and/or fried. limited to 77 copies that give homage to 1983." Sparkling Wide Pressure — 'Seven Inside and Out' C30 (Stunned no. 20)
"Frank Baugh has a real ability to conjure lucid memories from the furthest crags of our cranium whenever his Sparkling Wide Pressure begins emitting its visionary environs. Of the many corners he turns in his half hour visitation between chilly realities & possible alternate dream spaces, we're guaranteed to always be adrift in the soothing detritus of a quickly fading analog past. With 'Seven Inside and Out' Frank asks, are these warm dream worlds we imagine sad hoaxes or attainable endeavors for the future? Half-soldered circuitry tends to be the slit in the fence Frank takes advantage of here by deftly slipping through nostalgic loops & blurred drones. Given its relatively brief runtime, this cassette displays a vast scale of vision skilled in its admixture of loner synth dirges, hope-thirsty distant wails, and anti-gravitational guitar cycles. The combinations here pair perfectly with the thoughts of dawn & vibrations of dusk." Hand numbered edition of 100 pro dubbed & imprinted c30 tapes in mustard shells and double-sided color jcard.
Albero Rovesciato — 'Ancient Shining Drums of the Covered City' C30 (Stunned no. 21)
"Albero Rovesciato's members Francesco Cavaliere & Marco Lampis are native to the mystic isles of Italy but now they roam Berlin, presumably because they have smashed all the percussion instruments in their homeland. All we know is we're glad we located them with some remaining objects and intact drums, because few troupes can make us simultaneously smile with delight and scamper for cover when they rev up like this. Cavaliere & Lampis emerge from the badass Italian sound collective Phonorama, so we know they mean business once they open their trick bags and begin spilling out wares of leftfield musique concrete & cybertimes junkyard gamelan. Before-and-after shots of their performance spaces provide evidence that a typical Albero live action reduces much of their tools to splinters & powder. This isn't to imply that things are sloppy, however. Not for a second. Crystal recording fidelity on 'Ancient Shining Drums' benefits the wheezing-blurting-whacking fits of OCD voodoo, ensuring that we have never heard chaos sound so lean & tangible before. Marco puts it best when mentioning he & Francesco's desire "to escape from pedals and digital effects, to approach and find material contact with the instruments, to arrive at PYRAMID LEVEL."" Hand numbered edition of 100 pro dubbed & imprinted c30 tapes in blood red shells, insert card, and double-sided color jcard.
Metal Rouge — 'Salt Stones' CDr (Stunned no. 22)
"It has been a longtime desire of ours to work with Andrew Scott & Helga Fassonaki of Metal Rouge, before Stunned was even a twinkle in our eye in fact. If there's one thing we're convinced of, it's that these two are some of the most raw and intrepid aural magicians out there. And 'Salt Stones' is everything we could have hoped from them after years now of shaking in our shoes whenever they plug in around town for another anthem unto the heavier of heavenly bodies. Keeping in step with their no-bullshit, stripped-back live actions, here we encounter a merging of energies old and new as Andrew & Helga boost off from 90s NZ free noise styles, lending honorable nods to earth quakers A Handful of Dust, Gate, and Dead C. But ample room is left for Metal Rouge's own signature ear-splitting/life-affirming gamma rays. We've no choice but to rise higher than ever into the ultraviolet spectrum as Metal Rouge continue their liberated refinement, casting chunks of 6-string trance, extreme jazz vocals and black metal into the blistering, beautiful gas inferno of 'Salt Stones'." Limited to 90 cdrs in sari cloth lined vinyl case with black disc, transparent insert, and flower.
The Pistil Cosmos — 'Smoking Clouds In the Land of Fire' CDr (Stunned no. 23)
"The French psychedelic underground's recent sweep of cdr & tape gems owes much to Monks of the Balhill member and "V" galactic guide Vincent Caylet. Lately, his parallel solo project The Pistil Cosmos has been fleshing out a rather grittier and at times noisier underbelly to his other works' more peaceful star-eyed realms. Smoking Clouds In the Land of Fire steps into 2009 as the salvo that says the scene in France is maintaining some serious chops. Album opener "The Dreamt Language" taps into echoing caverns of shrouded gallic ancestors, their chants hushed under a menacing moon. Twin opus "There's No Ghost Here" features over twenty minutes of cascading overtones & startling infrasound resonating like a pulsar, dissolving the parameters of modern drone in a rainbow blur. Deep in scope, wide as our minds can go, be sure to tune in to this particular cosmos." Hand numbered edition of 90 cdrs in vinyl case with insert card and full color art.

"Frequency abuse, audio collages and harsh as shit noise blasts make up the over-an-hour material that is ¡Disturbio!; yet the way it's cut up and arranged, presents a very particular and quite annoying way of doing sounds that may cause even noise fanatics to turn it off before it's over." Rose for Bohdan - 'There it is, The Creeping Moral Decay of the Past Thousand Years' downloadable
"Rose for Bohdan sound like field recordings of some utterly deranged party on a derelict basement of walls covered with revolutionary hyerogliphs out of which everyone comes out purified and more intelligent the morning after. They sound like Sonic Youth fighting for their lives against a horde of undead noise vermin in a customized cadillac scrapyard at the very bottom of Death Valley 69. They sound like Nation of Ulysses burrowing through a vietcong style maze built deep under a Metropolis of lies, reaching the light at the end of the tunnel, an illuminated place whose walls tremble uncertain under the fury of the bombardment, there is a wooden box in the middle of the room, open it, inside, a chainsaw. Alas, they are no more and we shall miss them, but they are going out with a bang, 'There it is, The Creeping Moral Decay of the Past Thousand Years' is their farewell album, which shall be released on cdr by Realicide Youth. For now, you can go here to download it in its entirety at whatever bitrate you want, it is a labour of love but donations are welcome. So, what are you waiting for, spread the word, get active, get real." HERE (gratis!)13 Jan 09

Mariska Baars, Robert Deters, Rutger Zuydervelt - 'Gris Gris' CD £6"‘Gris Gris’ is a collaborative release between Dutch musicians Mariska Baars (who also writes and performs as soccer Committee) Robert Deters (of Vance Orchestra) and Rutger Zuydervelt (also known as the highly prolific Machinefabriek). The material for ‘Gris Gris’ (named after Robert’s cat and also the term for a Voodoo amulet that protects the wearer from evil or brings luck) was recorded during a single day in late August 2008. The session consisted of using Mariska’s voice as source material with Robert and Rutger adding further processing, field recordings and electronics. Whereas previous collaborations between Machinefabriek and soccer Committee used processing principally to supplement the minimal framework of Mariska’s songs, here her voice is used to generate a whole spectrum of different pitches and timbres. At times the source material is almost unrecognisable, transformed and buried under layers of manipulation, whilst at other moments slithers of untreated tones appear as if they’re part of some vaporous radio broadcast. The end result is some of the three artists most minimal, slow and eerie music to date." Cd packaged in a matte two-tone folding card wallet featuring illustrations by Mariska Baars. Ltd edition of 500 copies. HERE

ORA COGAN - 'Harbouring'
"Daughter to a Singer and a Photographer, born and raised on a small island on the west coast of Canada, Ora Cogan's house was also a recording studio and her family played host to a constant stream of musicians and travelers. Ora started writing songs and performing at the age of 12. Now based in Vancouver she stitches old-time, blues and Americana into her unique sound. Ora Cogan plays true folk, the kind that is strong and tells stories with a sense of urgency, be it heartbreak or revolution. This album is gorgeous, bitter sweet, and incredibly powerful. Ora's voice possesses that haunting, soulful quality that seems like its source is coming from deep deep within or beyond. Like a mysterious transplant from decades past, it's as though she opens her mouth and a lilting voice from the '20s comes drifting out. It's beautiful in its simplicity, just her and her guitar and a few banjo and back-up vocal additions. Borne Recordings is Acuarela’s new sub-label, managed by one of the organizers of the Tanned Tin festival and the Sons concerts cicle in Castellón." WEBSITE

DK011 KAM HASSAH - 'This Forest' Single-Side 12"
""This Forest" is the single side vinyl that italian noise honcho Kam Hassah (also headchief of the secondsleep records) done to the dokuro's catalogue. What Kam Hassah do with "this forest" is to move perfectly a dense stratas of sounds in a hypnagocic way, the rotary slow motion of drones, the layers of reverbarted voices, will bring you down under the moaning branches of this gloomy forest of sounds. A spiral implosion will show you the dark side of your soul where no light can shine and then... under again, in the viscous undergrowth where the beasts crawl. One track of pure bleak catharsis." DK011 will be release in hand-numbered edition of 100 copies with silkscreen sleeves printed by Canedicoda. Artwork done by Kam Hassah himself. HERE11 Jan 09
